Balgum Hebe Kim
Balgum—whose name translates to brightness—is dedicated to illuminating lives through education and self-discovery.
With over 15 years of experience as a private tutor, consultant, mentor, and coach, she has helped bridge generational and cultural gaps for immigrant families. Her passion for people inspired her educational journey, leading to a B.A. in Cognitive Psychology from University of California, Irvine, a Child Development Mental Health course from Stanford, and a Neuroscience Certification from University of Pennsylvania LPS.
Practicing what she preaches, she co-founded Koreans In California (KIC), a Facebook community in 2015, creating a safe space for over 30,000 Korean immigrants to exchange vital information and build a sense of belonging.
Her coaching philosophy is rooted in awakening the soul by purifying the mind, body, and spirit—building self-knowledge and raising consciousness through discipline. Drawing from the five virtues of Neo-Confucianism and the mindfulness practices of Buddhism, her program guides individuals toward self-mastery and authentic living.
As she helps others on their journeys, she continues to refine her own—studying philosophy to deepen her understanding, practicing what she teaches daily, and embracing new experiences. In doing so, she rediscovered a long-lost dream of becoming a fashion model and now balances her life between pursuing this dream and inspiring others to live, love, laugh, and learn.
